Tips to Make Your Video Standout
Optimize your video for best quality playback:

1. Preview the Book uses two players QuickTime (.mov) and Flash(.flv).  If your video is created in a different format we may be able to convert it for you.  Please email customer support for assistance.

2.  Make sure your video fits the player size.  The players on this site are 480(w) x 360(h) pixels.   If you send in any other resolution, your video may be pixilated or suffer in quality.

Tips for making your video effective:

1.  Keep your video in the vicinity of 1 minute or less.  Nonfiction videos may sometimes require additional time to convey a message adequately.  But in general, longer doesn’t mean better.  Previews are intended to provide just enough of the highlights to leave a reader wanting more.

2.  Use a legible text font with good color contrast from the background.  Also make sure that the text is on the screen long enough for people to read.  One good test is to see if you have time to read the script out loud as it is playing.

3.  Use music to create the right mood, but make sure it is not overly repetitive, so avoid looping very short music clips throughout the entire video.

4.  If you include a voiceover make sure it is a good quality recording.

5.  Get feedback on your scripts.  Make sure your message is compelling. Use words that evoke clear images.  Vague words or confusing phrases can ruin an otherwise good video.

A good quality video will go a long way toward creating a favorable and lasting impression of your book.
